Help Keep Me Employed

Donation protected
I've been a freelance writer for the last 12 years, amassing a body of work that astounds even me, writing for Forbes, MTV, The Hollywood Reporter, and countless others. As one of the few physically disabled writers working, the written word has given me a platform to discuss representation, the need for more disabled writers, and gives other hope that they can work in this industry too.

Last year a horrific bill known as AB5 passed into California law. While meant to combat exploitation in the worlds of Uber and Lyft, it also limited the work independent contractors in the writing field could do. Most writers (who still have their jobs) are limited to just 35 submissions a year for any one publication. Unfortunately for me I hit this cap at the outlets that pay my rent, my food, my bills, within 2-5 months.

The only way I can continue to work is to become an LLC as this is a valid exemption to the law. This is frustrating for me and also incredibly expensive. I do have an LLC prepared to go but putting down the money for all the state fees (I'm doing this through LegalZoom to cut down on attorney's costs) will force me to spend money I've saved for emergencies.

Any monies accrued will go towards paying the LLC fees specifically. Any help would be greatly appreciated and show that my voice is worth putting out there.
