Help Keep Meraki Mama Collective Open

Hello, and thank you for learning more about Meraki Mama Collective's fundraising campaign, "Help Keep Meraki Mama Collective Open." We are asking for your help to sustain our semi-new business through the economic hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Like many small, start-up businesses, we operate on very small margins each month, but we are proud to share that we had reached our profitability in just five months in to business — a milestone many start-ups do not hit within the first year.  When we reached this goal, we knew we were still a long way from paying ourselves as a business owner, but we were excited to be able to pay our staff well and we were confident about the trajectory of the business. As many of you also know, our business took a major hit in the Fall of 2019 due to massive construction at our shopping plaza. At the time the pandemic hit, we were slowly beginning to recover from that loss.  However, the pandemic caused our revenue to drop by over 70% essentially overnight.

We have worked around the clock to convert many of our offerings to virtual classes since this crisis began, and have established countless partnerships with other local businesses and experts to bring unique virtual content and events to our members and families around the country. The response from the community has been wonderful.

Despite our virtual efforts, and despite assistance we expect to receive (but have not as of yet) from the SBA via available loans and grants, we are still in need of fundraising to cover our expenses through this challenging time. Our goal is to raise $10,000 from generous donations which will help us pay rent, payroll, and our additional monthly operating expenses. This money would help us sustain our business through approximately two months of closure and reopening.

Meraki Mama Collective is and continues to be a one-of-a-kind wellness center aimed at supporting pregnant and postpartum parents, specifically mothers during this delicate time. We are the only place in Georgia that offers Prenatal Yoga multiple times each week, as well as the only studio to offer postpartum movement programs to support a mother's journey after birth. What make MMC so special is the beautiful community that we've created. Our studio is a home away from home to some many mothers juggling home life, motherhood, career, and relationships. It would be utterly heartbreaking for our center to not reopen, or to be able to offer the level of physical, emotional, and community support that so many in our community have come to love!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your consideration to help Meraki Mama Collective. We truly appreciate your love and support.

Love + Light,

Lauren Shields
