Help Keep Page 2 Books Alive!

Page 2 Books has been a part of the Burien Community since 1989. It has gone through many significant changes during that time, including a recent move. Last fall, after months of construction on a new space, our store moved across the street. Although it was only a short distance away, the move provided us with a beautiful, bright space that is much nicer than our former location. We had unanticipated expenses during the construction and had to find a new construction crew. The delays were expensive. We used our resources and the wonderful contributions of hardworking family and friends to complete the project.
Everything was going well until....the pandemic. Our store closed on March 18th and at this point, we don't know when we will be able to reopen. We have bills coming in and no income. I am asking for help in paying for our lease, insurance and utilities. Our booksellers continue to be paid for the time they are working from home on projects to make our store even better when we can reopen.
We are working on finding funding through grants, improving our website, adding to book groups, writing book reviews, adding to our Bookshop site, planning for future events and increasing our knowledge of books. Our bookstore is a very important part of the community and we want to be here for many more years. On a daily basis, I think of our customers. Names and faces pop into my mind and I wonder how they are doing, how their families are, what they are currently reading. For an introvert, I really miss the people connected to my store. I look forward to the day when I can see them again. As much as I miss my bookstore family (customers and employees), my main concern is keeping people safe.
I know this is a hard time for everyone, but if you are able to make a contribution, please know that it is very much appreciated and will be used to keep our store alive. Another great way to support us, as well as other independent bookstores, is by shopping online at Bookshop, they ship anywhere in the U.S.
Thank you for your continued support during this time!
