Help Keep Peacefood Union Square Open!

Hello to our NYC Vegan Community, Peacefood fans and family
For fifteen years, Peacefood has remained a space that strives to provide outstanding service, food, and a warm, welcoming, familial space free of animal products and alcoholic drinks for vegans & non vegans alike; while also providing our staff (front and back of house) with living wages. In the long shadow of 2020 and the COVID Pandemic, we have been hit hard financially as the world continues to change & evolve in reaction to the ever shifting economic and social pressures of a post-COVID time.
Our Union Square location has been hit extra hard, as the local community relocated both home & work and has left a void in our space where so many friends, regulars and neighbors once joined us to eat, only compounded by an increase to the cost of all goods & our rental of the space, with additionally the cost of emergency repairs for our air conditioning, refrigeration, and kitchen drying up what little resources we had left in reserve.
With our best efforts to regain customers, reduce costs & continue to grow, we may have only enough funds left to cover another month of operations at Peacefood Union Square. We currently owe three months of back rent adding up to $100,000. Humbly, we ask at this time for financial assistance, through donation, from those near and far, those that have joined us for our entire history to those who have only just recently discovered the wonderful world that is Peacefood. With an influx of monetary help, we have the opportunity to stave off a closure during an unexpectedly slow summer season & make it back into a more prosperous time for the location in the autumn. The funds would be used to pay back our outstanding debt with our landlord as well as payroll expenses.
We appreciate all those that would be willing to donate, but foremost we encourage you to come in to join us for meals with a friend/family.
We hope to continue to serve you for many years to come!
Sincerely,
Peacefood family
