Hello everyone! Our beloved Reverend Fr. Wilfred Odo needs your help! Many know him as a Catholic Priest of Nsukka Diocese, Nigeria, Rome or Chicago. Fr. Wilfred is the Chief Judge of Nsukka Catholic Diocesan Tribunal in Enugu State, Nigeria. For me and my siblings, he is my most loved Uncle, and to my Mother (Ijeoma Emelda Onah, nee Odo), Fr. Willy is her cherished brother and best friend.
We need help from Everyone; all those who have had the pleasure of receiving Fr Wilfred’s knowledge, prayers and company, and from those who haven’t, but are moved by his story…
Six months ago, Fr. Wilfred became very sick. He was diagnosed with brain tumour and a resulting Hydrocephalus. The illnesses that took him away from his vocation, from the bright vibrant, active and social character we know and love, into seclusion, unable to look after himself, weak and in a constant state of confusion and disorientation, unable to walk or speak.
Fr. Wilfred Odo was taken to various hospitals in Nigeria, where he under went several investigations and eventually a brain surgery. However the surgery was not successful and Fr. Wilfred’s health continued to fade. He was near death when his family made a worthwhile decision to bring him to the UK for medical treatments in an effort to save his life.
Since then, Fr. Wilfred has undergone a series of complex brain surgeries to stop the leakage to his Brain Cells, though these have come at a hefty prices, as Fr. Wilfred is not entitled to NHS treatment, hence his treatments are chargeable. The surgeries have been a success! And we thank God that Father is now showing signs of returning to his usual health.
Unfortunately, his journey is far from over, with outstanding medical bills, and a further major surgery to remove the tumour which still remains in his brain, as well as rehabilitation after the surgery.
On this note, we his family plead for your help: to tackle Fr Wilfred’s medical bills and bring him back to good health.
You may be aware that Priest’s make a vow to live in poverty, and unfortunately Fr. Wilfred’s Church in Nsukka, have very limited resources to support his medical treatments overseas.
If you are willing and able to contribute financially, we will be forever grateful for your generosity. If not, we ask you to please remember Fr. Wilfred in your prayers and wish him well.
God bless you all.
