Help Keep Santa Rosa Gymnastics Open
Donation protected
Santa Rosa Gymnastics Center (SRGC) has been servicing our community for over 45 years. With the recent pandemic, this home away from home for hundreds of kids, is now in jeopardy of closing its doors for good!
Children of all ages have been calling SRGC their second home for the past 45 years. Giving tots, kids, and teens a positive place to be themselves and not worry about the stresses of their world. Over 350,000 thousand Sonoma County kids have come through our doors since 1975, and have learned not only gymnastics but also valuable life lessons such as work ethic, dedication, tenacity, kindness to others, and perseverance.
In the years prior to the pandemic, SRGC has provided work to over 300 employees and serviced the youth in our community with gymnastic lessons, competitive gymnastic and cheer teams, weekly & daily camps, community service, health and fitness clinics, CPR & First Aid training, Birthday Parties, and Parent's Night Out's.
In 2017 during the Fires, SRGC stepped up to fill a need. The building was turned into a distribution center for basic supplies to our community members and families that lost their homes. For three weeks, hundreds of thousands of basic supplies and money came to us from all over the nation, at which we were able to house it all and distribute it to our local families as well as sending much needed supplies to the shelters. As the world around us burned, our staff as well as our gym families heeded the call for help and came in to donate, sort, box, and distribute supplies to scared fire victims.
SRGC recently has been running camps under the camp guidelines and following all safety procedures, for our communities children during this scary pandemic. Providing essential care for those parents who must work and can not stay home with their children. It is also a safe place for kids to shake off the negativity, pressures and uncertainness of the scary world we're now living in. But now, that too, is also in jeopardy of being shut down.
If SRGC can't pull in more revenue to pay its staff and bills, it will be forced to shut down permanently. Our Gymnastic Family humbly asks for any monetary donation that you can afford. Please read the below letter from one of our current team members.........
" I am a competitive gymnast at Santa Rosa Gymnastics Center and my goal is to be a college gymnast. My journey as a gymnast has not been very long, but it has been successful. Four years ago at the age of 10 I started gymnastics, and now I couldn’t imagine myself or my life without it. Being a gymnast has taught me so many things; motivation, self confidence, discipline, focus, determination, perseverance, and dedication. My Dedication to the sport of gymnastics is what has me writing this letter to you.
For me, walking into the gym is like a breath of fresh air. Doing gymnastics helps me forget my worries, fears and any anxiety. It clears my head and I believe I am a better person not only to myself, but to the people around me after hours at the gym. At SRGC we not only learn gymnastics, but also valuable life lessons. Teaching children and teens important life lessons through things we are passionate about is so important. For me that is gymnastics. My coaches and teammates are my second family and these challenging times have only brought us closer.
SRGC is the only gymnastics center serving us in the Santa Rosa and Sebastopol areas, and we could not have asked for a better gymnastics community. If SRGC is forced to shut down, it likely will not survive financially and I along with my gymnastics family will loose this amazing aspect of our lives."
