Dear Chive Fam,

This is one of the most difficult messages we've ever had to write.

As many of you may or may not know, our journey together at Chive over the past four years has been filled with challenges, and we now find ourselves at a critical point. Since our launch in 2020, the pandemic and subsequent obstacles have strained our restaurant in ways we never anticipated.

In early 2021, we received government funding that was designed for new businesses, but by mid year, we received a notification of disqualification, and a request for repayment.

Although, we were a new business opening in the pandemic, the ambiguity of us operating as a pop-up prior to 2020 deemed us ineligible for the assistance. Because this left us in a vulnerable position, the only option available to us at the time were merchant cash advance loans.

We now understand that despite the growth we continue to see in our business, it is no match for the financial strains rooted from these decisions and the current elements.

We’re reaching out for your support in helping us keep our doors open for our incredible team and the vibrant community we’ve built together. You all have made Chive a home, and we want nothing more than to continue serving you your favorite meals and creating unforgettable memories.
