Help Kelly and Mahli Find Support and Hope
Donation protected
Life can change in an instant, and for my dear friend Kelly and her 13-year-old daughter Mahli, this past year has brought challenges no family should have to face.
Earlier this year, Mahli was diagnosed with Rasmussen's Encephalitis, a rare and devastating neurological condition. It causes relentless seizures, progressive brain damage, severe weakness, and cognitive decline.
It is resistant to most treatments, and while medications help manage some symptoms, they come with heavy side effects. For Mahli, this condition has meant giving up much of what used to be her day to day life. She experiences pain daily, she struggles to walk unassisted, she can no longer attend school. It is leaving her increasingly isolated and is taking a toll on her emotional and mental well-being.
Throughout all of this her mother Kelly has been her rock. And despite being incredibly strong, Kelly, as Mahli's sole provider and caregiver, is carrying this burden almost entirely on her own. The diagnosis has brought significant medical needs, requiring specialized care and equipment that are far beyond her financial means.
Kelly is a proud person that is not one to ask for help, but the reality is that she can't do this alone. She is an amazing mother and is doing everything she can, but this journey requires a village.
Mahli deserves the best care possible, so I'm asking you to please help my friend and her beautiful daughter.
Funds raised will go towards:
• Seizure-Safe Equipment: A specialized bed with safety rails and a seizure-detection sheet to keep Mahli safe and give Kelly some peace of mind at night.
• Specialist Care: Access to private medical specialists who can provide the expertise and guidance they urgently need.
• Support for Kelly: Alleviating some of the financial strain so Kelly can focus on being there for Mahli without the constant worry of making ends meet.
Every donation, no matter what size, will make a difference and bring Kelly and Mahli closer to accessing the care and tools they both need.
If you’re unable to contribute financially, may I ask that you please share this campaign with your network. It would mean the world to them - and me.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
