Help Kelly Sorbel bounce back

This month Kelly Sorbel was hit with three major blows and has been unable to work. First, he caught a gnarly case of Covid. Next, his beloved Aunt fell critically ill, and Kelly had to be away to support family during her passing. And then to make matters worse, Kelly got a near deadly case of Salmonella poisoning, and had to be rushed to the ER. Thankfully, he is stabilized, but Kelly will be at the hospital receiving care and fluids for a week and will be unable to work his normal jobs for weeks. All of the unexpected expenses are mounting and causing added stress. Kelly lives modestly and even with three jobs, can barely tread water, especially under these circumstances. 

This has been a crazy string of awful luck, but Kelly still manages a little smile with a sparkle in his eye. Let's band together as a community and help Kelly the way he helps us. Ideally, we could set him up so he doesn’t have to worry about finances for the time he can’t work, maybe a month, and maybe we can even help pay down a credit card. This dude deserves it.

To know Kelly is to love him. Anyone in the Bellingham art and music community knows how hard Kelly works for other people. He holds down three jobs… working tirelessly as venue director for local nonprofit Make.Shift, booking and managing art and music shows while also guiding a gaggle of young interns. He is known fondly as Mr. Kelly by his middle schoolers at a paraeducation job. He then works the late shift recording local bands for super affordable rates in his self-made studio. Kelly is always motivated to help those in need, including myself, showing up in those clutch moments when sh*t hits the fan. He works hard in three bands with enthusiasm and positivity, is always there to make you laugh with a good attitude. He is a major ally for the Queer community, and just generally helps people in the art and music community realize their dreams. This man is a true gem.
