Help Kelsey Take The Bar Exam
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kelsey Jenkins Simmons. I graduated from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in May 2021. Unfortunately, I did not pass the July 2021 Louisiana Bar Exam, and I have to retake it in February 2022. I started this gofundme to pay for the application cost ($875) and my living expenses for the 3-4 months while I study.
I am a first generation college student and law grad from the small town of Basile, Louisiana. I was raised by a single dad who served 21 years in the military, then spent decades working in construction to provide for me and my older sister. With the exception of my car note and insurance that my dad generously pays for despite his limited income, I have been self-sufficient since I began college in 2015. This means that I have always held a minimum of 2 jobs (but usually 3!) while attending college and law school full-time. The major downside of my self-sufficiency is that I have had to take out loans for my bar prep course and fees, as well as loans to pay my bills so I wouldn't have to work quite as much while studying for the bar exam. While I did work about 10 hours a week during my first round of bar prep, and while I currently work two decent-paying part-time jobs, I cannot afford any distractions from studying, and I am unable to take out additional loans for this administration of this exam, which leads me here. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and will first be applied to the $875 application fee that is due on December 15 and then to my general living expenses (rent, utilities, phone bills, food, etc.).
