Ovid, NY experienced a devastating fire overnight on January 21st. The Ovid VFW Post 6200 is collecting funds and donated items to aid one VFW member's family and anyone else who lost their home and belongings in fire.

Help Kelsy and Her Children Rebuild After Devastating Fire

We’re reaching out to you today to support Kelsy Thorn, daughter of Rick Provoost, a lifetime member of the VFW, and her three children, Finnley (3), Cece (10), and Jace (11). Tragically, Kelsy and her family lost everything in the recent fire at the Big M. Not only was their home destroyed, but Kelsy’s car, parked below, was also totaled. They escaped with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

Now, this family faces the enormous challenge of rebuilding their lives from scratch. Kelsy is a hardworking mom, but the burden of replacing all their belongings, securing a new vehicle, and creating a stable environment for her kids is overwhelming.

What They Need:

• Immediate Needs: Toiletries, socks, underwear, and clothing.

• Children’s Needs: Backpacks, shoes, and Christmas gifts (everything was lost in the fire).

• Finnley loves Spider-Man and construction toys.

• Cece enjoys jewelry, makeup, and nail polish.

• Jace loves the Buffalo Bills and football.

• Household Essentials: Beds, bedding, furniture (couch, table, chairs), and kitchen supplies (pots, pans, dishes, toaster, microwave, etc.).

• Kelsy’s Needs: Wallet, purse, tote bag for work, and basic personal items like bras, hair brushes, and hair ties.

• A New Car: The family urgently needs reliable transportation after losing their vehicle in the fire.

This is an unimaginable loss for Kelsy and her children, and we’re hoping to rally together to help them through this heartbreaking time. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward replacing their essentials and rebuilding their lives.
