Help Kenia bring her son home!
Donation protected
Kenia works as the custodian at the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami but for those of us who are lucky enough to work with her, she is so much more than that. For all the staff at the ICA, Kenia has become a friend we can have a good chat with, a reliable colleague when we need her help, and a fundamentally good person who is always caring, generous and kind. For that reason, I am organizing this fundraiser to give back the bits of love and kindness that Kenia always gives to us.
Kenia came to the US to provide for her son back in Nicaragua and works full time at the Museum to achieve that. She has now taken the voyage of bringing him to the US for them to be reunited. As we all know, the immigration system here is neither easy nor budget friendly. Upon lawyer fees (who keeps augmenting his price on her), immigration fees, finding a car (she currently depends on uber for transport) and her other living fees, Kenia had come up to me asking me if I knew some where she could take on a second job. Our goal is to spare Kenia from that as she works extra hard for us already here at the museum. We want to show her community support and let her know that she is not alone in this while giving her some peace of mind through this major transition in her life.
Also! This is a surprise, so please don’t mention it to her if you see her
