What Happened and Why I'm Here

Since September, I’ve been struggling financially and emotionally due to a downward spiral of events:
- I lost my marketing job of nearly three years - ironically in the mental health industry - after my performance output dropped due to my mental health struggles with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Prior to these mental health issues reaching a significant point, I was performing above satisfactory levels according to performance reviews in years prior.
- After noticing a performance drop, I was put on a employer-requested, unpaid mental health leave for three weeks. This left me financially behind, but I was able to manage in this time with some assistance from my roommate. After being cleared to return by my psychiatrist and returning to work for two weeks with steady work output - life decided it had another event waiting for me.
- My mother suffered a seizure while driving, resulting in a car accident and hospitalization for a week. (She’s recovered for the most part since then, but has had some memory loss issues.)
- A week after her hospitalization, I was terminated. This was in spite of my years of positive reviews and being told my work quality wasn’t the issue.
- Understandably, losing my job meant losing my primary source of income, my health insurance, and my therapist.
After all these events transpired, I was devastated and hopeless. My unemployment took months of appealing to process and was capped at $3,650, which wasn’t enough to cover rent and bills which had been accumulating in that time, leading to me taking on debt just to survive.
I eventually landed a contract job, but they let me go a month into the position without even paying me for my last week, thus creating another bout of hopeless as I have been unable to find additional work since then.
Now, I’m left without financial stability and have fallen behind on personal projects and work due to my mental health and constant financial stress.

Why I Need Help and Where Do I Need Help

I’ve hesitated to ask for help - I feared judgment and didn’t want my struggles to affect how people view my ability to work and fulfill obligations. But at this point, I’m genuinely out of options.
I’m unable to cover rent, afford essentials, or get the mental health care I desperately need. Moving back in with family isn’t an option, as they don’t have the space for me to live with them at this time, nor the means to assistant me financially with my situation to the extent I need.
That said, what I am asking for is $6,000 which is how it will be used:
- Rent/Bills (3 months worth): $4,500
- Groceries and Essentials: $500
- Mental Health Support: $500
- Misc. (Emergencies, Debt, etc.): $1,000
If I can raise these funds, it would lift a tremendous burden off my shoulders. It would give me the breathing room to stabilize, focus on finding work, and return to creating content without the constant fear of losing my home.
