Help Kenneth Garrett Keep his Home

Kenneth P. Garrett Sr. is a lifelong resident of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a community leader, a former coach, schoolteacher, instructor and father of three children. He is a widower and a Covid-19 survivor. The long-term effects of Covid 19 have left him with only 60 % usage of his lungs. He also suffers from severe arthritis.

Like most of us he and his family has become victims of the system that is not working for us.

The City of New Orleans has informed Mr. Garrett that his residence will be seize. After Mr. Garrett managed to purchase his property from a city tax sale, which cost thousands of dollars, the City has now compounded additional taxes, fees, penalties and fines on the property.

The property has an estimated $85,000.00 dollars’ worth of damages from hurricanes, Zeta and Ida when they hit New Orleans.

Mr. Garrett has been working towards getting the repairs done, but the City of New Orleans has informed him, he also has until Novembers 28, 2022 to pay the city over $26,00.00 more in taxes and fees; or the property will be seized by the Civil Sheriff and sold by the Sheriff in a City auction.

This property has been in Mr. Garret’s family for over 100 years. Mr. Garrett has been doing whatever he can to raise the funds needed to save his property. Mr. Garrett is also caring for his ill son, while he continues to live in his home and still caring for the homeless and needy; even though he has serious health conditions.

So now, we are concerned citizens reaching out to the public to help a person that has always cared for and assisted so many of others.
