Help Kevin Fight Stage 4 Kidney Cancer
Hey friends, We need a ginormous favor. Kevin's cancer diagnosis is end stage metastatic renal cell carcinoma and has spread to his lymph nodes and lungs. There is no cure, the goal is to slow the cancer and pray for remission and a miracle. The cancer is causing a secondary condition making his sodium get dangerously low. He will have insurance coverage on September 1st, but is having all kinds of necessary tests and procedures NOW. They will meet with a surgeon at UVA Wednesday. They have to self-pay for everything upfront right now and expect much of the treatment won’t be covered. This is a terrifying diagnosis and he’s already not well. Losing weight fast, his sodium keeps dropping, he’s weak and dizzy, and has very little energy. Christy is trying not to get on the internet too much because it’s just dangerous to look stuff up, but it is necessary so she can understand what the doctors are saying. Life is SCARY right now in the Hicks’ household. They can’t postpone treatment because of money. Kevin is a retired Roanoke County Deputy, who retired on April 1st 2021 after 15 years of service with Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office, and had been with Franklin County Sheriff's Office for 7 1/2 years prior to that. Let’s rally around this man who served our community and help him get the medical treatment he needs.
