Help Kevin Hodges battle Brain Cancer

Donation protected
On June 6, 2020 Kevin Hodges woke with a migraine so severe that he could not physically express his pain to his wife, Candice. As the pain intensified and he began to vomit, Candice rushed to his side. After transporting him to the emergency room at Los Robles Hospital, a CT scan and MRI revealed that Kevin had a 5-7cm solid mass located in the left frontal cortex of his brain. Within two days, a 4.5-hour awake craniotomy and biopsy was scheduled and conducted. Kevin and Candice anxiously awaited the results, praying that they would find only a benign tumor. Unfortunately, they received the worst news imaginable; Kevin was diagnosed with Grade IV Glioblastoma with a prognosis of 18 months to live.

UPDATE (July 13, 2020): Because this disease is unpredictable and a constant battle, Kevin was admitted to the ER at St. John's Medical Center on June 30th. He underwent another craniotomy on July 3rd. Thankfully it was a successful operation.

About Kevin

At 32 years old, Kevin is a selfless, encouraging, smart and refreshingly witty individual. He is a supporting and loving husband to his wife, Candice and the beloved only child of Cheryl and Ed Hodges. Endeared as a reliable friend to many, he is stubbornly driven to achieve any goal he sets his sights on. His family, work and his two pet cats are his entire world. If you need any evidence of the joy and positivity that Kevin radiates, ask any one of his many friends just how much he makes them laugh.

Kevin leads a healthy lifestyle, recently shedding 50 pounds through diet and exercise. He and Candice have been together for 10 years this August and were married in 2018. Three years ago, they bought their first home in Moorpark. Soon after, Kevin received a promotion at GeoLinks in Camarillo as Candice continued to study to become a nurse while volunteering at Los Robles Hospital. They had recently been making plans to start a family together.

What’s Next?

Kevin was discharged from the hospital 4 days before his 32nd birthday. The current treatment plan calls for six weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. If Kevin can make it through this round of treatment, he will have access to clinical trials.

How You Can Help

Kevin’s diagnosis has rapidly turned he and Candice’s life upside down. While they have always been the types to do things on their own, they have had to face the realization that they will need help to fight this devastating illness and the many burdens that come along with it.

Brain cancer treatments are exceptionally expensive, and the funds raised through this campaign will go directly to finance the multitude of medical interventions needed for Kevin’s patient care. Kevin is dedicated to fighting this tragic illness with everything he has so that he can one day continue to fundraise to find a cure for Glioblastoma.
