The Key Peninsula community is about to get their first licensed childcare center for babies as young as 3 months!
Key Peninsula Preschool has been working towards this goal for close to 4 years and we are just weeks away from opening their doors. Once we are open, families will have quality, loving and safe childcare just minutes from their homes.
To ensure that we have everything that we need to become a licensed childcare for children as young as 3 months old, we are asking for help among the community to raise the funds for the last few things that we need to become licensed.
We are asking for 60 members in our community to donate $100.
These funds will go to:
- Updated fencing around the playground for maximum safety
- Developmentally appropriate toys and activities (we are a screen free campus, so we need a lot of these!)
- Age-appropriate furniture to foster independence
- Food serving items to encourage healthy eating habits
- Proper Storage to encourage a clean, organized environment
Why is childcare so necessary on the Key Peninsula?
When we opened up the waitlist for this childcare, our spots filled within 24 hours and our waitlist continues to grow. This means that the need in our community is high. In the past 4 years, we have spoken to families that:
- drive an hour each way for childcare (research shows that a long commute can have negative effects on an adults mental health- imagine a 2 year olds)
- put their kids in front of a screen for 8 hours while they work every day (this can impact their brain development- a lot)
- need a dual income but just can't work as much as they need (this is impacting our communities economy- quality childcare can help with this)
