Help Keyhan Kaveh with Harley’s veterinary bill
Donation protected
Hi my name is Keyhan and I rescued Harley from the West Valley shelter where he was planned to be euthanized.
Update on Harley:
Harley has now been with me for 2 days.
Yesterday afternoon I took Harley to VCA Airport Animal Hospital in Irvine. I had a few concerns when I looked at Harley‘s reports from the shelter. One being the anal masses and the other his loss of balance and hind leg lameness. So far I have good news for you guys. During the examination we found out that the anal masses are actually his anal glands that were impacted and infected, which was a relief for me because I was worried if the masses are cancerous (AGASACA). His movement and reflexes were totally fine however he did show a lot of discomfort when examining his ears and after doing the cytology we found out both his ears had bacterial infection. The veterinarian did mention that ear infections do result in loss of balance due to all the head shaking. So yesterday Harley went under a light sedation, his anal glands were fully expressed and flushed; both his ears were cleaned and after flushing them, they were medicated with antibiotic and anti inflammatory ointments. Then Harley received the vaccines he was due for: Leptospirosis and Influenza. I also got his flea and tick preventative which he is due for next week. A three view chest X-ray was done just to rule out cancer or any foreign body masses and to make sure he has no issues with his heart and lungs. The X-rays were all clear, except signs of arthritis around his spine (which is normal due to his age). He also got a nail trim while he was sedated. Lastly, we did a full panel blood work which I will have the results for it on Monday. The blood work would give us a clear image of how his liver, kidneys, pancreas and other organs are doing.
He does have few fractured teeth and in the future it would be great to set up an appointment for him for dental cleaning.
So right now Harley is with me and I am giving his medications every 12 hours.
If anyone would like to help me out with the expenses so far I would greatly appreciate it. God bless you all and this page for helping these vulnerable animals.
