Help Khloe Overcome Medical and Financial Hurdles

Donation protected

Hello beautiful humans! My name is Bobby, and this is Khloe, my sister. Khloe came into my life at a pivotal moment and has always been the light of every room she steps into. I could (and WILL) go on forever about this angelic human, but first this is an urgent call to action. Khloe is a black trans woman who has been working intermittently over the last two years while battling debilitating migraines and chronic fatigue, being sent from specialist to specialist and put thru an entire arsenal of tests/treatments all to no avail. She has been consistently w/o pay since FEBRUARY while STILL ON HER EMPLOYERS PAYROLL. During that time she has had to fight tirelessly with her employer and insurer for her RIGHT to insurance— consistently being denied long term disability for a pre-existing condition while trying to concurrently file claims related to gender-affirming care. I have watched her spend countless hours fighting tears of frustration on the phone circling around an endless drain of hold music. She’s burned through her savings and is still waiting on funds to come in from her job that have already been approved, but are still in limbo. The list of hurdles goes on and on and still my sis fights on. And so I fight on. And that’s where you all come in!
We are set for bottom surgery with UNC-CH on 6/18 (less than one week from the time of launching this site) and come hell or high water I have ensured my friend that this universe, this community, will make a way.
This pride season I would like to ask that you choose to directly support the mental and physical health and well being of one of our communities strongest warriors as well as the most at risk.

Cost Breakdown
I am looking to raise $20k to cover the amount of disability being held since February, post-operative care, medical bills not to be covered by insurance, home care, and loss of income during recovery (6-10wk min).

Disability Coverage~ $5,000
-Prudential has denied long-term disability coverage due to a preexisting condition; which seems so counterintuitive to me
Post-Op Care~ $5,000
-This includes follow-ups, therapies, any additional medications required not covered by insurance, etc.
Home Care~ $3,000
-Includes purchases for recovery post hospital: compression garments, heating/cooling pads, waterproof sheets; as well as, the cost of boarding Khloe’s two beautiful pups for initial home recovery dates (they’re jumpers and they love their Mama) and travel/lodging for family/caregivers who will be by her side thru every phase; many taking time out from work/packed schedules to support
Additional Expenses~ $7,000
-2 months income that covers her portion of mortgage, groceries for Khloe and her family, utilities, you know? The other bills that will pile up while she’s unable to work.

I know I’m aiming high, but I also know that this community can do it! I’ve never felt more passionately about a singular cause in my life. In our community, we have the blessing (and burden) of discovering and choosing our own families. The families we always needed and craved. And through those chosen families we are able to heal so many wounds within ourselves/each other, and we take that healed energy out with us every day into this dark world where we do our best to share that gift with others. So every time you share space with any queer, but particularly black and brown queers, and find yourself thinking, “Wow, they are such a light. They’re just such a gift. What a joy!” Just know, they are more than likely part of a beautiful family that CHOOSES to hold each other to be better every day.

Khloe is the heart, soul, and breath of my chosen family. We all are, but I think every single person in our tribe would agree that Ms. Khloe Kaday Lawes-Williams is who brings us together. Without Her, there would be no Us. It is She who holds Us up. And now, in this moment, I pray that you will help us hold Her up! ✊️‍⚧️️‍

Any donation helps, even just $5 and a share! Even just a proper share! For tips on how to share your links, follow along for updates! I will be sharing tips on crowdfunding in 2024, thank yous, updates on surgery/recocery, more mushy-gushy talk about Khloe, and more, over coming weeks.

Thank you for taking the time to read this far and for being a part of this journey. You just clicking on the link and spending time on the site does more than you might even know sometimes, so thank you. Let’s help my girl recover with ease.
