The Good News:
I have been accepted into the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s MFA in Classical Acting program, accredited through George Washington University! I will be studying at one of the top regional theatre companies in the country and I am so ecstatic!
About the program:
“Our intensive, classical MFA program is a joint venture between Shakespeare Theatre Company and George Washington University. Classes in Acting, Text & Rhetoric, Voice, Speech, Mask, Movement, and Stage Combat make up the core of the curriculum. Faculty members for the program are award-winning actors and artists associated with Shakespeare Theatre Company.”
This one year accelerated master’s program means that I will have my master’s degree by 2022! How exciting is that!
The Bad News:
The tuition amount is $45,455 for the entire program (including all semesters). Tuition is due on August 30th, 2021.
As of right now, I am planning on paying through a payment plan. However, that means each payment I make would at least be around $15,000.
I will be working full time this summer. I am currently training to become a pharmacy technician!
In addition to working full time, I am also applying to a bunch of scholarships and grants.
I know what you’re thinking… Why don’t you take out loans to pay for school? Well, because I took out loans to help pay for my undergraduate degree (and I’m currently paying them off), financially it wouldn’t make sense to take our more loans on top of what I already have out.
If you have any doubts about my academic success at the collegiate level, please know that I have been on the Dean’s list since my freshman year of college and just last semester I made the Presidents list!
