COVID-19 Relief for Kiara Hearn
Donation protected
We are establishing this fund for our friend, Kiara Hearn, who has been one of our good friends since high school. The beginning of 2020 has been an incredibly difficult time for Kiara and her family due to medical complications that have left her on unpaid leave from work and recovering from COVID-19.
A few years ago, we were informed that Kiara was in the local hospital and recovering from having fluid drained from her heart. At that time, she was diagnosed with lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease that attacks healthy tissues. While lupus is manageable, it will continue to affect your quality of living and require constant monitoring for the rest of your life. Even though it was an incredibly scary diagnosis, Kiara determinedly chose to face it head on by ensuring she followed her doctor’s orders and was cognizant of the new daily routines she would have to follow.
Unfortunately, earlier this year, Kiara got a case of shingles that developed some of the more serious symptoms - paralysis of her face and a loss of hearing – due in part to her lupus diagnosis. To combat the disease and ensure her lupus was under control, she was forced to take unpaid leave from work.
While recovering from shingles, COVID-19 began to spread across North Texas. As a person already living with lupus, she was especially susceptible to contracting and seeing severe effects of the disease. As many have, she ended up contracting the disease. Unlike many, she ended up on a ventilator at the hospital fighting for her life as her mother and friends prayed for her safe recovery.
As she continues to recover following her release from the hospital, we are hoping to help raise money to ease the financial burden that she is currently under. We hope that she will be able to put her thoughts towards regaining her strength and vitality. Your contribution, no matter how great or small, will help supplement medical bills and living expenses while Kiara is on the road to recovery.
