Help Kickstart Autistics Unmasked

2 years ago my sister, Safiya, and I saw a need for an autistic ran organization that centered voices of the global majority and other marginalized communities. We are both late-diagnosed autistic adults who understand firsthand what it is like to navigate the world when you're autistic, dont know it, and don't have resources. So we founded Autistics Unmasked. An entirely volunteer ran autistic self-advocacy organization. Today, we are 20+ members strong, making waves of change and providing invaluable resources to the autistic community and our allies.

Until now we have been operating with no budget and all of our team has been working hard to put out the resources and provide the community that we do for free. This needs to change. So we're organizing our first big fundraiser tentatively set to take place October 2023 (more details to be announced). But we need money to make money. We're hoping to raise at least $3500 by August 2023 to kickstart our fundraising initiatives.

This money will be used to rent a venue, advertise the event and pay event staff for their hard work for the day. We're hoping our community will rally behind us and understand that it can be difficult to set out to raise money when you start with nothing.

We want to continue doing the work that we do and provide our resources for free. By raising these funds we can absolutely make this happen as we anticipate our planned fundraiser will bring our budget to a place where we can pay our staff for their continued work and back our projects in progress.
