Help educate and feed children in Kenya

Hi, My name is Gail and I'm fundraising for Restoration Community Support Centre in Bungoma, Kenya. I learned about this Centre through a friend on a Facebook post and it genuinely touched my heart. It caused me to reflect on how absolutely privileged my grandchildren and other U.S. children are in receiving an education. As well as food, clothing and many other needs.
In 2016, a woman named Caren, age 26, noticed children around her church on school days. She questioned why these children were not attending school. Although education is free in Kenya there are expenses for books, uniforms and extra fees. However, due to financial problems many cannot afford it. Caren saw a need and started a program with 5 students. Today there are 145. Each year she increases the number of teachers to accommodate the growing attendance. While at school, Caren supplies a meal, as well as provides medical care if a child needs it. Her cost is roughly $150 per week to provide for the children. Her teachers sometimes have to wait to receive any pay if funds are limited. Or Caren will make bricks and sell them to give them their minimal wage.
Caren fundraises herself by planting maize, raising chickens and selling eggs. Through a generous gift she was able to buy an incubator which holds 100 eggs. She also makes bricks and sells them to supplement their needs.
Caren's husband is a pastor. He would assist in meeting the financial needs until recently, when he fractured his arm and leg in a motor vehicle accident. The doctors have told them his recovery could take 6 months. Caren is a woman of faith and believes that God will provide for their needs and the schools.
Caren has big dreams of expanding the school beyond the primary grades. She would like to purchase computers for the students and to offer computer classes to adults in the community for a fee. Purchasing more land would increase her farming ability and she hopes eradicate hunger in the school.
The funds received will be used to provide $150 per week for the next year. In supplementing the expenses for the feeding of the children, Caren will be able to focus on her next project and use money she earns to see those dreams realized.
