Help Kim & Kendall's Pup Buford Fight Leptospirosis
Donation protected
Kim & Kendall had to admit their 12 week old pup Buford to the ER tonight Wednesday April 19th due to a bacterial infection known as Leptospirosis.
Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that affects both animals and humans. Animals can get lepto through direct contact with urine from wild animals. High fever, excessive thirst, loss of appetite, diarrhea and vomiting are some symptoms. Without treatment, leptospirosis can lead to kidney and liver damage and even death.
Buford just started showing signs of a very upset tummy Monday and has seen 3 vets since. The 3rd vet was able to identify that his kidneys were already failing and he then tested positive for Lepto.
To keep Buford alive he will need to be monitored and on IV fluids and medications. After the costs of 3 vets and multiple tests, xrays and bloodwork Kim & Kendall were told the cost to treat the Lepto is $8,000.
The cost of healthcare for any living thing is outrageous and exorbitant. I know many of us could not imagine the stress of having to choose / even having the option to choose going into such steep and quick debt in order to save a puppy.
If you are in any position to pitch in and help Kim & Kendall with the burden of this debt and Buford's medical expenses it would mean the world and make a huge difference. It is my hope to raise as much as we can to help them during this extremely difficult time.
Thank you so much, and PLEASE talk to your vet about getting the Lepto vaccine for your animals next time you're in. It's not included in the standard panel of yearly vaccinations.
