Help Kim Regain Her Independence

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted individuals,

We come to you today with a heartfelt request to support our dear friend, Kim Lang, in her quest to regain her independence and improve her quality of life. Kim's journey has been one filled with resilience and determination, but she now faces a challenge that she cannot overcome alone.

Kim has faced a significant hurdle in her life due to a debilitating illness that struck her at a young age. She has a rare, undiagnosed neurological condition (severe neuropathy & myopathy) without a known cause that resulted in limited functionality of her hands and feet. Despite this adversity, she continued to work and contribute to society, but eventually, her health forced her to go on disability. Kim's former employer provided her with long-term disability coverage until she could transition to Social Security. However, due to the complexities of timing and bureaucracy, Kim has found herself burdened with unexpected tax implications. To meet her tax obligations, she was forced to drain her savings and checking accounts, leaving her in a precarious financial situation.

Now, Kim urgently needs a new wheelchair to maintain her mobility and independence while her health rapidly deteriorates. Her current wheelchair is outdated and no longer meets her needs where as an upgraded, battery-operated wheelchair will highly improve her quality of life. Moreover, her home lacks a wheelchair ramp, making it incredibly challenging for her to move in and out freely. The absence of these crucial resources has caused Kim to feel isolated and trapped in her own home, impacting not only her physical mobility but also her mental well-being.

We are launching this GoFundMe campaign with an initial goal of $4,000 to provide Kim with a suitable wheelchair. However, the larger goal is to raise a total of $10,000, which will not only cover the cost of the wheelchair but also enable us to build a ramp at her home, granting her the freedom to move independently and safely.
