12/19/24 update:
Kim’s journey has been a daily struggle. Thank you for all of the love and support given to her. Your support has made a significant impact on the ability to care for her over the last few months. Christmas is going to be difficult this year as Kim has very limited ability to do anything. You never know how much you rely on each other until a catastrophic illness hits you.

She went through 20 rounds of radiation treatment to multiple locations in her spine, pelvis and right femur. The doctor was trying to ease the pain only with treatment. She’s had one round of immunotherapy because the insurance company has delayed treatment. her next round of therapy is on Friday, December 20th. Say a prayer for her.

Her cancer has significantly spread and she is in constant and intense pain day and night. The team of doctors, specialists and nurses have not been able to find a way to ease the immense nausea and pain.

Kim’s employer closed her office while she is terminally ill and this means her health and life insurance have ended. Now ,we move on to paying 100% of the insurance ourselves and it is proving difficult to navigate the system.

Kim needs your love and support more than ever. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you everyone.

Kim and her family needs our help!
Kim Shourds, 52 years young is battling stage 4 metastatic cancer. I ask for your support to ease the financial burden the treatment will bring to her family.

Kim Shourds and David Shourds have been married for over 31 years. Together, they took custody of her brother’s three children to ensure their future. Justin, Jeffrey and Kylie. Kylie is still in high school and graduates in the spring of 25. They are a close loving family and they are all fighting for Kim.

Kim has been diagnosed with stage-4, non-small cell Adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) in her lung and on her vertebrae in her back. This cancer is a mix of two cancers with a “Driver mutation” and is a rare malignant tumor that contains both squamous cells and gland-like cells. The cancer has caused her vertebra to fracture and is causing incredible pain. It is going to be long, painful and costly journey on her road to recovery.

Kim has been in pain for over a month and felt and heard her back pop while showering. While in agonizing pain, she was able to get out of the shower and into the bedroom and collapse into the bed. Her husband called 911 and she was rushed to the emergency room at Sentara where CAT Scans were performed revealing lesions on her left lung and L2 vertebrae. The family is devastated and Kim will not be able to work. Her health insurance it through Kim's employer and David's is out of state coverage.

Now, the biopsies are in and the plan for treatment hs started. It is complicated and costly on Kim and her family. Our loving community can really make a difference. I am reaching out to ask for your help in easing their burden her and her family. Your donations will go directly towards covering the cost of Kim’s care, ensuring the family is able to keep their home and continue her care moving forward.

Kim has given so much of herself to others over the years, it is now our turn to give back. Any contribution, you make, no matter how small will have an impact. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraising campaign with others who may be able to help.

Kim’s journey will be painfully difficult and anyone who knows Kim understands she is a fighter and quitting is not an option.

Let’s come together and support Kim and her family in this difficult chapter in their lives. Thank you for being a part of Kim’s life and making this time as easy as possible for Kim, her family.
