Help Kim through this devastating loss

Donation protected
Many of you saw on FaceBook or heard from your family that our sister Kim was diagnosed with breast cancer this fall and followed with surgery just a few weeks ago. While in recovery, her husband Russ was an outstanding advocate and caregiver. Kim was just at the beginning of her healing journey when the unthinkable happened.

Less than two weeks ago, Russ exhibited signs of liver trouble which could be seen in the unusual shade of his skin. A blood test had doctors calling them quickly telling Russ that he needed to get to the Emergency Room as soon as possible.  After a few days at Morristown Memorial Hospital, the team there had been consulting with the transplant team at University Hospital in Newark and they were able to get him accepted there for treatment.  Russ was diagnosed with acute liver disease and started a medical regimen which unfortunately did not reverse the effects. He was placed on the transplant list and on Wednesday, December 2nd they had found him a  liver.  Surgery was scheduled for Thursday morning.

Although the prayers from family and friends were overwhelming, Russ's body could not hold on long enough for the surgery. He sadly passed away Thursday afternoon.

We (Kim's brothers and sisters) are setting up this fund in hopes to help Kim with medical bills and other expenses through this time. Not only is she dealing with the loss of her beloved husband, but she still has an ongoing battle to fight with her breast cancer.  There are medical bills now for both of them, and Russ was the income of their household.  There are also funeral expenses and living expenses that Kim will have difficulty covering until she is able to go back to work after her next surgery.

Although there is no way to take away the pain and sadness of loosing a loved one, we are hoping to provide her with some financial relief to ease the burden just a little so she can focus on healing. Whether or not you can donate we ask that you keep Kim and her family in your prayers. Please send good vibes her way.

If you have a good story to share of Russ, please leave it in the comments. I'm sure Kim would love reading about the good times we've all shared with him.
