Help Kingsley Folk School Build a Yurt
Donation protected
Our goal is to build a yurt on our farm site just outside of Kingsley where we can hold year-round classes and workshops for larger audiences. Kingsley Folk School, founded in 2021, is a non-profit community space for sharing and learning skills from folk traditions for all ages. After starting out in a small building in downtown Kingsley, we quickly outgrew the space. Now it is time for us to grow and we need your help.
Some of our previous classes included an early childhood music series, cheese making, glass blowing 101, herbs for pain and inflammation, stamp making, tree grafting, qigong, drop spindle spinning, fire by friction, and sauerkraut making. We plan to continue to expand our curriculum with our new space and offer more classes like these.
We are sourcing our yurt from a local Michigan company, Great Lakes Yurt Co. The project total will be $25,000. We raised $1,222 at our Folk Day event in July and are looking to the community to help us raise the remainder!
When we reach the $5,000 mark we will be able to purchase the materials to build out platform!
