Deer Collision Update:
Hello and Happy Thanksgiving!!
After my deer collision November 12th which totaled my car, I needed to rent a car as soon as possible through the relationship Uber has with Avis so I could return to work.
When you’re a full time Uber driver and needing a car to perform Uber, you can’t just rent any car from any rental car company or location.
You can only rent a car from specific Avis or Hertz locations.
So it was very challenging because the number of locations are limited, and on top of that, no rentals were initially available at any locations other than an Avis location that was 2 and 1/2 hours away.
But I desperately needed a car to be able to get back to work.
So on November 20th I took multiple modes of public transportation including an Amtrak train in order to reach that location.
When I got there, they didn’t end up having a gas fueled car for me (which is what I wanted), and only an electric car was available.
So I rented the electric car thinking I could learn how to keep it charged using public charging stations, and that maybe it would be more cost effective than a gas fueled car.
But it ended up being financially more expensive than a gas fueled car.
Between the cost of charging, the long 45 minute sessions it took charging at least twice a day (losing money I could be making giving rides), and the fact that it only held 260 miles with a full charge, it was terrible.
So yesterday, November 27th, I drove the 2 and 1/2 hours and returned that electric car (just in time before the weekly rental I had paid for ended), and then took the Amtrak train, Metro, multiple buses, and multiple Ubers to get back home last night.
The bad news is I’m now without a car again and unable to work.
The good news is there are three closer Avis locations I spoke with on the phone yesterday which each thought there was a good chance they would have a gas fueled car available either tomorrow (Friday, November 29th), Saturday the 30th, or Monday December 2nd.
Please pray that there will be a gas fueled car available for me to rent as soon as possible so I can return to work, and that they will hold it for me so I will have time to use public transportation to pick it up.
I still need financial help to get through this time and the loss of income I am experiencing.
The enemy wants me to feel guilty and/or ashamed to ask for help. But I know none of that is from God.
God wants me to ask for help when I need it, and not worry about other flawed humans, just like me, who might think I am a failure. Until they live my exact circumstances, they have no idea.
Please consider a donation, no matter how small. Everything helps.
God/Jesus has been good in helping things not be worse, helping me to not run out of basic needs, and helping me to remain hopeful.
God/Jesus has carried me through so much, and there is no doubt that He will continue to carry me through this, just as He promises in His Word.

PREVIOUS POST:
On Monday November 12th I was on my way to work for my nightly Uber shift and had a bad collision with a deer, which caused significant damage to my car.
Praise God that I wasn’t physically injured.
Then on Friday the 15th I was informed by my auto insurance company that the car has been deemed a total loss.
I still owe $14,007.41 to pay off the loan on the car, and the amount that my insurance company is paying out to the bank for the claim is $4,191.17, so I will still owe $9,816.24 on the car loan.
Fortunately the bank told me that I will be allowed to continue making monthly payments on the $9,816.24 balance until the loan is paid off, as opposed to them filing a judgment against me and coming after all of the money right away.
This occurrence puts me out of work until I can get into another car, and I won’t be able to purchase another car for the foreseeable future because there’s no way I will be approved for a second auto loan until the other auto loan is paid off.
That said, thank God Uber has a program where an Uber driver can rent a car through Hertz or Avis to use for both work and personal use, however it’s not ideal long term because it costs $300 a week for the rental.
I will be renting a car through that program on a day this coming week, November 18-22, depending on availability.
The help I am seeking through this fundraiser is for work lost, keeping up with bills while I am having to rent a car in order to work, and Lord willing, money towards paying off my totaled car so I can get into a new car and not have to rent one.
I’m not going to put limits on God in my mind with this plea for help. Rather, I feel led to trust Him in whatever He does or doesn’t want to provide through this fundraiser.
Please pray that God will give me wisdom, courage, and hope. I’m overwhelmed, and the stress is heavy.
But God is in control, and everything happens for His reasons, His glory, and His Master plan, and that gives me great hope in the midst of difficult circumstances.
Jesus has carried me through so much, and there is no doubt that He will carry me through this.
I appreciate you reading my story. Please consider contributing and sharing the fundraiser if you are willing.
Thank you!
