Help Kirk walk!

This is Kirk, also known as Kirky Boy, Little Dude, Turkey and Big Boy.

We first saw Kirk on Tuesday, March 21st, 2023 on the Humane Society’s page and instantly fell in love. By the next day, we had filled out the adoption papers and brought our other dog for a meet and greet. By the end of the week, Kirk was safe and sound in his furever home.

When we got him, he was skinny, had a ton of dander and was scared of the world, but fell in love with us immediately. We have worked consistently on building his confidence and our bond with this little dude is so special. He loves unconditionally, is the biggest goofball and is always down for a snuggle.

Unfortunately, his fear of the world is not the only thing that Kirk is conquering. Kirk is struggling to walk more and more each day. It has been 3 months of him getting worse and after many vet visits, we finally received a final diagnosis. Kirk has a bilateral ununited anconeal process of the ulna. This is also known as elbow dysplasia in both elbows. Without immediate intervention, Kirk’s quality of life will dwindle and the pain will no longer be manageable.

We have been quoted over 22 thousand dollars for surgery on both legs, not including rehabilitation, travel costs and other additional fees. This is on top of the thousand we have already spent on pain management and X-rays. To make this possible for Kirk, we are reaching out to the community for any support you can provide.

As such a young puppy who has been through so much in his short 7 months of living, we hope that we can give him the long and happy life that he deserves. A pain-free, fear-free life where he gets to truly experience the wonderful life of being a dog.
