The new Refuge will be built across from the rape crisis centre adjacent to St Marys GAA Club in Maudlintown.
The new refuge will be able to support 12 families who have experienced domestic violence and provide them with independent accommodation, there will be space for children to play and teens will have designated areas to relax and continue with their school studies.
Wexford Wellness ran a hugely successful wellness day on Sunday 15th May in Newbay House Hotel in Wexford, to raise much needed funds to kit out the new building for the Womens refuge, which we are hoping will be built and ready early next year.
The Wellness day along with sponsorship and this gofundme page raised €12,655 to go towards the furnishing of the new refuge.
The day began at 10am with an opening cocoa circle followed by a range of outdoor classes inc. A variety of Yoga, Pilates, Qi Gong, mindfulness and singing bowls.
We had guest speakers throughout the day who specialised in all aspects of health and well-being.
