Help Klaus Get The Surgery He Needs
Klaus is the sweetest, most loving, and energetic pup I have ever known. He’s great with kids and brings so much happiness to anyone who gets to meet him or know him. A couple of years ago, we started to realize that after any physical activity, Klaus would walk with a slight limp in his back leg. The limp progressively got worse until he could not run or jump without limping. It was surprising because he was only 3 years old when the limp began.
The vet said that Klaus has a slow genetic breakdown of his ligaments in his knee called a torn cruciate ligament (like a torn ACL in a human) which causes arthritis and pain increasingly over time. The only way to really fix it is with a surgery called TIBIAL PLATEAU LEVELING OSTEOTOMY (TPLO) which reengineers the way the knee works so that he doesn't need that ligament at all anymore.
If Klaus doesn’t get the surgery, he will continue to be in constant pain and eventually will not be able to use the leg at all. As any dog owner would understand, it is heart breaking to see your dog in pain. The cost of the surgery is around $6,000 and the sooner the procedure is done, the better. We are hoping to raise enough to cover a portion of the cost so that we can get Klaus the surgery he needs to live the rest of his life pain-free and happy. We appreciate ANY amount of contribution!!
