Help the Family of Knate Ostenso

On Monday September 16 around 5:30am, Knate Ostenso was helping his friend drive from Alaska to Phoenix with 3 VWs on tow. Their truck and trailer went into the Yukon River by Lewes Bridge in Canada early Monday morning. RCMP would only search by boat Monday and Tuesday. The truck and trailer were not pulled from the river until Wednesday, 9/18, late evening and Knate was not in it.

On the morning of 10/7, Knate’s body was found in Schwatka Lake.

If it wasn’t for the amazing people of the Yukon area searching for Knate by drone, foot and boat, the family would be completely lost. From the very beginning they have been more than helpful by not only searching but giving us continuous updates. We are so blessed for each and every one in the Yukon. We could never repay them for the kindness, love, support and efforts they have done. 

Knate did not have a pension, savings or life insurance. Him and Norine have no money saved up as times have been a struggle for them and living paycheck to paycheck as well as trying to help others regardless of their situations. We are asking the community for any help for Norine and her family so she may be able to continue paying the bills since Knate is presumed dead at this time. As you can imagine, she has not been able to work since the accident, and we would like to be able to help cover her for now and the future since Knate is gone. 

Knate and Norine have done so much for not only their family, but for their friends and the VW community and it is our turn to help hold her up without Knate.

We also ask that you share this to any and everyone as Knate had a big circle of people. There is no donation to small. Any bit of efforts will help her and the family right now. (We had to put a dollar amount to get started)
