Help Kobe Battle Pancreatitis & Anemia

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

My name is Kobe, and I'm an adorable and loving Pekingese that just turned 13 years old.

Unfortunately, on my birthday, 1/24/22, my parents had to admit me to the emergency room. I was so scared because I was diagnosed with a moderate case of pancreatitis. My parents even visited me in the evening on my birthday to try and get me to eat, but it was a couple of days since I had a meal, and I didn't have an appetite. I had to stay overnight and be brave. I was put on a feeding tube and an IV, and I slowly got better each day. After five nights, I was finally discharged.

When I returned home, my parents did everything to take care of me. They gave me five kinds of medications throughout the day and even hand-fed me boiled chicken. After a week of recovering, I had my check-up with an internal medicine specialist. My blood work came back, and all the numbers were trending in the right direction, which gave us all hope. However, the doctor wanted me to come back in another week for another checkup.

After ten more days of recovering at home, I still didn't have my full appetite and energy. I knew something was still not right. My parents took me in for my check-up, and they found out that I had even more underlining issues. My red blood cell count was dropping, and I became anemic.

My parents have done everything they can to help me recover from pancreatitis, but after being diagnosed with anemia, we are not sure if we can afford to continue testing and treatments after all the hospitalization bills, medical tests and medications we have already accrued.

I'm afraid that I might need a blood transfusion soon to help extend my life so my parents can find out what is causing my anemia. I know that I might not have much time, but it could help me get my energy back and live a normal life for a little bit. My mom is 32 weeks pregnant, and I want to continue fighting to meet my new sibling in April and get a chance to do some of my favorite things (going on walks, eating chicken again and enjoying the spring weather) before it's my time to cross the rainbow bridge.

Thank you so much for listening to my story and helping me fight through this. Any kind of contribution and support will help us tremendously and we are so grateful for this platform to reach people who care about pets and animals.

Sincerely,
Kobe
