Help Kong needs urgent surgery
Donation protected

On Saturday 2/11 we almost lost him. That afternoon we took him with us to the mall and less than 5 minutes into our walk we noticed that he seemed tired so we had him rest, he was not getting better that’s when we took him home and noticed his condition worsened. He was gagging, panting, in distress and didn’t want to be touched. We took him to the ER. In the hospital they took him in immediately and intubated him right away, he was in a very bad shape. He has a condition called BAOS (an upper airway abnormality that affects his breed) and everted laryngeal saccules which almost entirely blocks is airway. The vet wanted to keep him for 24 hours and advised various treatments but we could not afford to do them all. We opted to prioritize, do the necessary treatment at this time to get him stable. He was intubated and sedated for a long time and left on oxygen because of his breathing difficulties. The lab tests and X-ray showed that he had a non cardiogenic pulmonary edema. At this point we had to take him home because we can’t afford to keep him in there longer. He was sent home with a lot of medications and is instructed to be in strict cage rest and will not be able to get out until his breathing problems are addressed. He is advised to do two surgeries as soon as possible because his airway is so small that it’s very difficult to breathe. As of now he already accumulated $4,000 in medical bills. We will need approximately $12,000 more to have the 2 surgeries done. As much as we want to do everything we cannot afford it. We are asking for financial assistance so we can save Kong. The surgeries are advised to be done immediately. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
