Hi, My name is Jonathan Dodge. Good friend of Paul and family, former St. Mary's Nursing student and Deer hunting partner of Paul's. I'm assisting Paul with this Go-Fund-Me account. All proceeds will go Kris and family. Funds are being raised to assist Kris with bills that he will see as he moves through his journey to recovery.

Hi. I am writing this email to let people know of a serious health problem that Kris is experiencing. I'd rather send out this message to inform people rather than go through this several times by phone., etc. However. if you have any questions or want to talk to me feel free to call me/ text me or email me.
This whole thing actually started back about ten years ago. Some of you may recall that Kris was in a massive car accident. He was T-boned by a big car in his little SAAB. He was knocked unconscious and taken by ambulance to HCMC and had a serious concussion and he needed several weeks to recuperate. In the process of caring for him after the crash, his neuro team found a small lesion in his brain. It was not related to the trauma of the crash. He was advised to go back to check up on the lesion six months after the accident. He did so and was informed that it was diagnosed to be just a benign lesion.
A couple weeks ago, Kris was having some headaches that were really bothering him. He got a Covid test to check on that- which was negative. But the headaches continued. Yesterday morning, on his way to work, he went off the road and was in a minor accident. When he got to work, his coworkers realized he wasn't himself, mentally. They called an ambulance and he was taken to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.
I'm very grateful to his coworkers who also left a message for Kris' mom and myself. Mercy allowed one visitor to be with him- given the Covid peak. Being at capacity of the hospital, four people were discharged yesterday and four were admitted- one was Kris.
In the process of a CT and an MRI, it was found that his lesion had mutated and it had grown very large. It covers about 25 per cent of his brain cortex. He continues to have a terrible headache and they are trying to reduce the pressure on his brain from the mass by giving him steroids. Hopefully that will start happening soon, as he is in major pain.
We have been fortunate in being able to schedule surgery for Kris next Tuesday at Abbott Hospital, where they have specialized equipment to do the surgery he needs. His neurosurgeon also wants to run another set of specialized MRI tests at Abbott before the surgery. The plan is to transfer him from Mercy to Abbott tomorrow and get the tests done in preparation of his surgery Tuesday.
We will need to be with Kris after his surgery and give him the best care we can. Kris' friend Angela {who is an RN who works at Abbott} has generously offered to take a leave of absence from her job to help provide home care for Kris, after his surgery. She has also taken Kris' dog, Sherman- who already loves Angela- for awhile too. Needless to say we love her too.
Thank you for caring about Kris and if you are into prayers and sending good thoughts his way, please do so. Be well- Paul

11-29 post-op update
Brief update on Kris. He came out of surgery fine this morning and was sent to neuro ICU. He's tired but doing okay. He has just recently been moved to a neuro general care room. The plan now is that he will stay a few days in the hospital and receive some PT and nursing care. Then the hope is that he can get into Sister Kenney rehab for a few weeks. We will be working with an oncologist to begin creating a plan for the next series of treatments for Kris.
Reminder- Kris has a caring bridge site if you want to visit that as well. You can find these updates posted and you can leave him notes there too if you'd like.
