Kristi Titus was unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer after a routine exam. Those of us that know and love Kristi, know that she is a lifelong nurse who has dedicated her life to helping others in time of need. Even after she recieved the bad news, she continued on through the summer and continued her workout routines like the trooper she is. Kristi marked September, 24th on her calendar; the day of her bi-lateral mastectomy. The diagnosis had become a reality, and it was time to fight! As expected, Kristi was scared. Chris and her family and friends shared her fears, but they all prepared themselves for the struggle that was about to take place. Kristi knew what she had to do.
September 24, 2020 felt as though it was the longest day of their lives. After a long wait and hours of recovery, Kristi aced it. Everything went according to plan and thus the recovery process was in full swing.
As the surgery was a success, further complications arose.
Kristi is the breadwinner for her family, and her family is proud of the hard work she does. We are all so proud of her as the global pandemic rages on and she continues to battle this disease on the frontlines. Needless to say, Kristi is not one to call off for "sniffles".
The first surgery ate into her CAT time (paid time off), and there was not much left for follow-up surgeries and reconstruction. For Kristi, the reconstruction preparation has been even more painful than the initial surgery.
We have hit a roadblock, everything has not gone right.
The expanders have not cooperated fully but things are currently on the way to being back on track.
Kristi and Chris had to take time off of work to travel to Pittsburgh weekly for several months. All of this has helped eat into both of their PTO/CAT times. Kristi's time is nearly depleted. The numerous copays and deductibles also add up, but the most worrisome issue Kristi's family faces is the 6 weeks of time off she will need to recover from the second surgery on March 24th. She will essentially be out of CAT(PTO) for these 6 weeks of surgery and recovery.
Kristi helps people everyday. She does it for a living. Let's help our friend in her time of need, so that she may get back to helping others. Please donate.
