Help Kristi White and family fight lung cancer

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Salma and I’ve initiated this fundraiser to help a fellow coworker's family in their battle against Cancer. Chris White, an exceptional colleague, is a caring spouse to Kristi White and a loving father to Bradley and Chandler. If you're familiar with him, you know firsthand how helpful, thoughtful, and genuinely kind he is. Now, we need your support to aid his family in this challenging journey.

Who is Kristi White and how it all began:
Kristi White is a Wife, mother, daughter, sister, beloved family member and friend to all. A wonderful person who doesn’t know a stranger and someone everyone wants to be friends with.

" The journey began In November of 2017, the week of Thanksgiving and our youngest sons birthday, a terrible year for our family. We lost 2 very close friends that year, one to suicide and another to a tragic car accident. A week after knee surgery she began having chest and back pain. Due to the surgery we were on watch for possible blood clots and decided to go to the emergency room. Upon review of a CT they discovered 2 liters of fluid around her heart. She was rushed to a larger hospital for emergency surgery. It was stated had we waited another 24 hours she would not have made it. After recovery she was allowed to go home only for it to happen again the week of Christmas. During the second Hospital stay further testing was done to see why the fluid buildup kept happening and that is when they discovered she had stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer.

Upon the completion of the first round of chemo and it was discovered that she had a protein marker that allowed for targeted drug treatment. After 2 years the tumors shrank completely and she was tumor free. The cells were still there, she still needed to take the medication every day, and the staging doesn’t change but she defied the odds and was living a normal life. "

Where things are currently:
" In March 2023 during a routine scan some new spots started to appear. They were small, less than 5mm, so another scan was scheduled for April. The April scan showed the spots had grown a little but were less than 10mm and still too small to biopsy. The Next scan was set to take place in an another 30 days and the results would have been on her birthday but, during the next weeks she developed a cough and problems breathing. It was at this time we went to MD Anderson in Houston. After some tests they discovered that in 3 weeks the cancer had spread very rapidly. The 3 tiny spots less than 10mm had turned in to so many tumors they couldn’t get an accurate count. Now instead of the largest being 10mm the smallest was 3.5cm. The targeted medication was no longer working for all of the cancer so we had to add traditional chemotherapy.

We’ve always known that stage 4 meant that it was terminal but until now there was no time frame defined. During our last visit the oncologist explained that at this point there is not much else available so she will need chemo every 3 weeks until the end. Based on other patients similar to her that could be as many as 15 three week cycles. With new advancements in cancer each day they will continue to submit her for new trials and experimental treatments so we remain hopeful.

From the beginning we knew the odds were low. The 5 year survival rate for stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer that has metastasized is less than 8%. As of this write up she has fought for 5 years and 8 months and continues to fight every day. "

Why we are seeking help:
There have been many requests from friends and followers on what they can do to help. Kristi is not one to ask for help as she does a lot of volunteer work each year, runs fundraisers for various charities, and is always looking for ways to help others. During treatment she will no longer be able to do the work she loves as a Scentsy consultant so all proceeds will go to her treatments not covered by insurance, out of pocket expenses, alternative therapies, mental health and well-being.
All funds will be directly deposited into their account. Any additional funds not used for Kristi’s treatment will be donated to a Lung Cancer Research Charity.
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have, and kindly share this post with anyone you believe may be interested. We sincerely appreciate your time in reading this and the tremendous love and support Kristi has already received.
Any contribution you can make, no matter how small, would be immensely valuable and deeply appreciated.
