**Support Kristin Goetz in Her Battle Against ALS** Second annual ice cream fundraiser –August 18, 2024 –Great Lakes Station Ice Cream "The Caboose”
Friends, Family, and Supporters, We are reaching out to you today to rally behind a remarkable woman, Kristin Goetz, who is now in her fifth year of bravely battling ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). As many of you know, ALS is a relentless disease that progressively affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to a loss of muscle control and severe physical limitations. Despite the challenges, Kristin continues to inspire us all with her resilience and positive spirit
This past year Kristin has been most significantly affected by her disease and is now fully wheelchair bound and experiencing breathing difficulties. To help alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with her condition, Tammy Metzger and family is organizing The Second Annual Ice Cream Fundraiser at The Great Lakes Station Ice Cream "The Caboose" in memory of her father Bob Metzger whos life was taken by ALS with proceeds going to help Kristin in her fight against ALS. While the event will be a wonderful way to bring our community together, we also need your help to make a significant impact.
**Here’s how your generous contributions will help Kristin:**
1. **Home Modifications:** Kristin's home needs several modifications to accommodate her changing mobility needs. These adjustments are crucial for her comfort and safety, ensuring she can move around her home with greater ease and independence.
2. **A Much-Needed Trip to Florida:** New York winters can be harsh, and a trip to Florida would provide Kristin with a much-needed escape. The warmth and sunshine will offer a reprieve from the cold and a boost to her spirits.
3. **Promising Treatment in Miami:** If we raise enough funds, Kristin hopes to continue down to Miami for a promising treatment that has shown potential in slowing the progression of ALS. This treatment could be a game-changer, providing hope for a better quality of life.
