Help Kristine, LSSP spend time with her mom

Kristine Rodriguez (who I affectionately call "Kristine Rodriguez-Rodriguez") is a wonderful person, an incredible mother and wife, an advocate for children with emotional/behavioral needs, and a close friend of mine.  She is currently a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) with Frisco ISD and previously worked as an LSSP with Lewisville ISD and the Department of Defense.

 

Her beautiful mother is currently very sick and in the hospital. Earlier this month, doctors discovered a softball-sized tumor near her stomach and pancreas. Unfortunately, they have not been able to address the tumor because this past Friday, October 22nd, she was readmitted to the hospital with a fever and dehydration. Her health has been declining quickly while they try to understand what is happening and Kristine needs to be with her mother. She can take FMLA, but this is unpaid, which would put a huge financial strain on the family, especially with two precious kids in daycare. Nobody should ever have to agonize over taking time to be with their sick parent for financial reasons.

 

Kristine and I have been there for each other through all the things life has thrown at us: wonderfully unexpected pregnancies (always revealed at Blue Goose Cantina), births, baptisms, deaths, divorce, cross-country moves (back and forth and back and forth and back again), my girls' first-ever plane ride, multiple trips on rivers where something weird always happens (don't trust a radio that is supposed to float or tube a river with preschoolers after a drought y'all...), grad school acceptance and dissertation defenses, etc., etc...

 

She and her family have been there for my daughters and me through some incredibly difficult times, without hesitation. Now she needs my/our help. Please help put Kristine and her family at ease so she can be there for her mother at this difficult time. Thank you!
