Help Kristy and Brooke After Tragedy

Our best friend since childhood needs help right now. Kristy is a very hard working single mom and she supports her beautiful daughter Brooke, as well as her 15 month old granddaughter. Brooke is like an adopted daughter to us as well, as we have watched her grow up and go through so much.

Thursday night Brooke was the unintended victim of an armed felon who showed up at a park where she was meeting friends. He came there with the intent to shoot and kill another young man that was there. Brooke was the only one hit by the several rounds fired. The other people ran away and left her alone with a gunshot to her face. She was shot near her eye and it exited behind her ear. While all the police would say is, “The victim is expected to survive, there is no threat to the public,” they failed to mention what survival looks like for Brooke.

She is miraculously healing in ways that doctors are amazed by, but she is far from out of the woods. The cost alone of this stay in the hospital will drown this family. That isn’t even bringing up the ongoing costs of rehab, physical therapy, future surgeries, losing time working, etc. Doctors can only speculate on the ways this can change Brooke’s life. It is a terrible waiting game.

We are hoping to overwhelm them with support in this beyond tragic situation. Watching Brooke fight and struggle these past few days has nearly broken us, but we are standing by them and we need your help.
