Help Kua Recover - Near Fatal Head-on Collision

Donation protected
My name is Nancy Campbell and on June 16, 2023, my 23-year-old son Kua was driving home via Saddle Road (from picking up his girlfriend in Kona) when somebody reportedly going over 100 mph was attempting to overtake two cars in a dangerous curve area and hit Kua head-on. Kua had already slowed down below the speed limit after entering a winding, blind turn, foggy area and as he emerged from the fog suddenly there were two sets of headlights coming at him. He had a split second to try to move onto the shoulder but couldn't avoid impact. Thank God there was another minor accident earlier and EMTs were in the area because among a ton of other injuries, the brake pedal impaled his leg and he was bleeding out. If the EMTs weren’t in the area, he would be dead right now. Professionals on the scene said it is a miracle he survived. He has a long road to recovery ahead of him physically and mentally. He had the brake pedal impaled through his leg which caused him to almost bleed out on scene. He had to be cut out of the destroyed vehicle. He had broken bones in his both feet, ankles, legs, shoulder/left arm, fractured pelvis etc. He was taken to Hilo ER and then medivaced to Queen's Trauma Hospital on Oahu once he was stable enough t be transported. He endured a 10 + hour surgery on June 17th. He was intubated and sedated for the first couple of days and when he was stable enough they did another surgery.
He is now home with me and I am caring for him 24/7. I am doing everything I can to get services in place for home health aid through insurance, and at this point, we are just waiting for the red tape which may take another week. It has now been three weeks and while he has improved immensely, it will likely be months before he is walking again, let alone working.
We are asking for support to cover the myriad of expenses that have not been covered by insurance. I am not able to work right now and am 100% devoted to his care. He will be eligible for disability but all these things take time, and he needs help now.
Mahalo nui loa for your support. Mahalo ke Akua for saving Kua's life. We all love him so much and just want to ease his suffering.

PS: I have created this with Kua's full blessing. He approved the text and photos.
