Help Kyla Attend The Trial For Her Son's Murder

My name is Mindy Blazer, and I created this GoFundMe for travel and lodging expenses for my sister, Kyla Dubberstein, and her husband to attend the murder trial for her son, Karl (KJ) Beaman, who was brutally murdered in June of 2022. KJ had been missing for 10 months when his body was discovered in early April 2023 in the crawlspace of an Aurora condo, encased in concrete. The trial of the accused is currently scheduled for the first two weeks of September 2024 in Arapahoe County, CO, and Kyla and her husband live in Arizona. Of course, as his mother, this has been an unimaginably devastating loss. She has suffered and grieved for two long years and this trial is a long-time coming. Travel and lodging costs for a two-week (or more) stay in Centennial near the courthouse are outside of their budget, especially as they both will need to take at least two weeks off from work to make the trip. I live about a 20-minute drive from the courthouse, but I have a very small condo without a private spare bedroom. They need a place, very close to the courthouse, where they can retreat to each night after a brutal day in court to rest and grieve in quiet seclusion. They also need to be able to book lodging that can be changed at the last minute, since they are at the mercy of the court's schedule, which could change. They won't know for certain if the dates will stay the same until the "ready for trial" hearing Aug 28. That makes it difficult to book or make changes to lodging at the last minute. They also need the flexibility to be able to remain in their lodging after the trial until sentencing. All of that flexibility means more money that they already just don't have, and Arapahoe County Victims' Assistance is unable to provide them the financial assistance and resources they had implied would be available.
