Help Kylee after head on Crash with Drunk Driver

My sister Kylee was in a head on collision with a drunk driver on May 30, 2021, after he crossed into her lane on a two-lane highway. She is alive but endured a shattered pelvis, a C7 vertebrae fracture, broken ribs, a liver laceration, a broken ankle, and a concussion, among other injuries. Kylee is a beautiful, strong, and resilient person even in the face of several surgeries, and months of rehab and healing. It is impossible to look at this car and not see the blessing of her life being spared. We thank God she is alive.


This is the second time someone in our family has had debilitating injuries as a result of a drunk driver. In 2011, my mother was hit by a drunk driver while riding her bike. Her injuries included a shattered L3 vertebrae, T6 and T7 vertebrae fractures, a punctured lung from a broken rib, a torn ACL, as well as severe road rash. She defied what was predicted by the doctors and was blessed to be able to walk again.

Seeing another member of our family go through similar pain because of the choices made by another individual to drink and drive is heartbreaking. No children should have to watch their mother suffer in this way, and no parents should have to watch their daughter go through the same. We are blessed to still have my mom and Kylee with us today. They both will be forced to live with the lifelong consequences of another person’s actions.
