A few nights ago, Kyryl Bielobrov's and Marko Jevgeni Gaidajenko’s apartment was completely destroyed in a fire.
By sheer luck, they woke up just in time—startled by the smell of smoke—to escape the flames. While we are beyond grateful that they made it out alive, however, everything they owned is now gone.
This tragedy is especially heartbreaking because it is not the first time Kyryl has lost everything. Three years ago, he was forced to leave his home country due to the war, starting from scratch in a new country. He worked tirelessly to rebuild his life, only to have it all taken away once again in an instant.
The insurance company is covering only a small fraction of the damage, leaving Kyryl and Marko to face yet another devastating setback with almost nothing left. The emotional toll of losing everything—twice—is overwhelming. Kyryl and Marko are one of the strongest people we know, but no one should have to go through this alone.
