Help Lacy Battle Breast Cancer

On July 23rd 2020, our beloved sister, Lacy, was diagnosed with Triple Negative Stage 2 Breast Cancer. The news came as a shock to our entire family. At 29 years old, this type of disease is extremely rare for someone of Lacy’s age. Since that day, we’ve started the process of understanding the fight we have ahead and what we can do to support Lacy in keeping her energy and focus on treatment.
Lacy has already started the preparations for treatment with numerous doctor’s visits, blood draws and scans. This week, Lacy will have a port placed in her chest and begin chemotherapy on August 19th. She has an arduous treatment of 20 weeks of chemotherapy ahead. Following chemotherapy, Lacy will undergo a double mastectomy and restoration, which will require 3 separate surgeries.
One large area of concern is covering Lacy’s medical costs as well as preserving her dream of one day having children. Chemotherapy can have a drastic impact on a woman’s ability to have children. Lacy has already started fertility treatment in order to be able to harvest her eggs. This cost, over $20,000, is not covered by insurance and is paid completely out of pocket. Additionally, Lacy will have a long year ahead of cancer-related expenses not covered by insurance like co-pays, transportation and time away from work. Although we don’t have an exact number of how much all of this will cost, we know it will be well north of the goal we are trying to raise.
Anyone who has ever spent time with Lacy knows what an incredible person she is. Loving, selfless and radiating contagious positivity, Lacy has been a true friend to so many and supported others throughout her life. Lacy is the type of person who would never ask for financial help, so as her brothers we are asking on her behalf. While Lacy has always been there for her family and friends, now she needs all of us to show up and support her.
