Help Lafferty Beat Lymphoma #SurvivorsSurvive

Erica has recently been diagnosed with Stage II Orbital Lymphoma. A couple of months ago, she began getting frequent, crippling migraines, noticed changes in her typically perfect vision, and became very fatigued. After countless appointments, scans, and rounds of bloodwork, she was diagnosed with a malignant tumor. She found out that in conjunction with the radiation therapy, she will be undergoing chemotherapy because of the biopsy results from the glands in her neck. Her family is opting for the most aggressive treatment in hopes to rid her body of this poison as quickly as possible.
Unfortunately, the chemotherapy drug, Luekeran, that Erica will be taking is not covered by insurance and it is costly – approximately $7650.00 per treatment cycle and her Doctor’s plan is at least 3 cycles. They’ve looked into many different grants and organizations that offer assistance but as of now, they have not found anything that they qualify for. GoodRX might be an option, but the prices change day to day so they will never know if they’ll be paying $800 or $7000 for the medication.
Over the course of the next several months, she will be undergoing radiation treatment with the hope of shrinking the tumor enough for it to be surgically removed without causing major damage to her face. After each radiation treatment, Erica will need to be quarantined away from Steve, her bonus kids, and her beloved dogs. Anyone who knows her will know that this separation will be the hardest part of this process for her. She is already feeling weak and making major lifestyle changes, like being placed on a low-iodine diet and moving her bedroom downstairs because, at times, she is already too weak to walk up just one flight.
Over the last decade, Erica has helped to raise money for scholarship funds, to help end gun violence, and to help other families recover from major traumas and tragedies. She has put everything she has into bettering the lives of others, but this time, it's Erica that needs help. We will be sure to post progress updates as they come.
Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, for being willing to help as we rally around Erica and her family at this difficult time. Please reach out before visiting, as there are many times Erica is not feeling up for visitors and there will also be several long periods of isolation.
Erica anxious to start treatment in two weeks!
