HELP REBUILD LAHAINA: BRINGING FAMILIES BACK HOME

Aloha, my name is Jim Hart. I am the founder of Bend Custom Homes & Remodeling. I was born in Honolulu. Hawaii has always held a special place in my heart. Last year we established Maui Custom Homes & Remodeling and made it our mission to answer the call for help in Lahaina after the devastating fires that left countless families without homes. We’re not just building houses, we're rebuilding lives.

We are seeking your support to raise $2,000,000 to secure lodging, manage operations, and begin this critical mission of rebuilding residential homes in Lahaina, for families in need.

THE PROBLEM

The fires in Lahaina have left many families displaced, forcing them into shelters or temporary living situations with no clear path forward. With the severe shortage of general contractors and skilled tradesmen in Maui the rebuilding process will face significant delays leaving families in long term limbo. The community is crying out for skilled professionals who can step in and help rebuild their lives and homes.

OUR SOLUTION

Our team has committed to relocating to Maui to address this urgent need. We will build residential homes for families who have lost everything and use our decades of construction management and land development expertise to deliver high-quality timely results.

This is not a short-term project, it’s a long-term commitment to helping Lahaina families recover and rebuild.

WHY YOUR HELP MATTERS

We have poured our hearts and resources into rebuilding Lahaina. We have also sold nearly all of our personal possessions and properties to fund our move to help in our mission. However, our funding alone will require the need for additional support. Your contributions will help ensure that we can secure housing for contractors, as well as cover upfront costs for equipment, materials and management expenses to start rebuilding homes as soon as permits are issued in the next 30-60 days.

How the Funds Will Be Used

Your donations will directly support:

$1,100,000 will be allocated for materials that require overseas shipping inbound to Maui and to help ensure contractors and suppliers are paid in a timely manner to continue working and stay on schedule.

$500,000 will be allocated to securing temporary housing and to cover the cost of airfare for our team of construction workers and volunteers, along with the shipping of the contractors construction vehicles and construction tools.

$250,000 for operational expenses including permits, office space and a fenced lot for construction supplies and equipment.

$150,000 for initial management and labor costs to kick-start construction projects.

With over three decades of experience in construction management and land development, I have personally managed projects ranging from large-scale residential developments to custom homes and remodels. Our teams track record includes building over 300+ single family homes and the development of numerous subdivisions, along with managing multimillion-dollar budgets. More than just technical expertise, we bring a passion to serve the Maui communities and help families rebuild.
