Help Lahuta Family get an Apartment

We are a family from eastern Ukraine, displaced because of the war. Pavlo, my wife Olha, and our son Nazar. When the war started, I was finishing a truck driving route through Poland. In early March 2022, to escape constant air alerts, my wife and son rode a dark train, the lights off to avoid Russian missiles, for twelve hours to get to the Western border and cross over to Poland. We were reunited in Poland and taken in by nuns, who were housing refugees in their monastery. In June 2022, we came to America under the Uniting for Ukraine program.

We've been lucky to stay with family for 15 months while we obtained social security numbers, work visas, learned English, and found jobs to support ourselves. Nazar completed 7th grade with all As, and is starting 8th grade soon. After studying for many months to get a basic knowledge of English, I passed my CDL exam in April 2023, and started working as a truck driver in July 2023.

We came to America with nothing, only 1 suitcase each. We have worked hard to learn English, gets jobs, and contribute to this great country that has taken us in during this hard time. We need a little help to get a place to live.

We have found an apartment to live in. We do not have enough credit history in America to qualify for an apartment, but our family will cosign our application. The application fee is $400, another $350 nonrefundable fee to move in, a security deposit (between $1,000 - 2,000), and security deposits to start utility services. We also have no furniture or furnishings. We plan to utilize the local buy nothing group and FB marketplace to secure reasonably priced items, but need a little assistance to have the basics.

Our goal is to move soon, before the school year starts on August 24th.
