Help new group of laid off GMU Custodians
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Bethany Letiecq, a faculty member at George Mason University and co-founder of the GMU Coalition for Worker Rights. I am raising funds to support custodians at GMU (again). In January, we raised nearly $30K for 68 custodians who were laid off just days before the winter holiday season. This past Friday, 15 more custodians--mostly Central American immigrant mothers--were laid off after Arkatype, the new cleaning company that replaced LT Services, lost its contract.
These custodians have been loyal to our university, some working at the university for more than a decade. These workers kept the university clean throughout last winter's Omicron surge and are a part of the George Mason family. This round of lay offs comes only 1 week after they filed unfair labor practice charges against their employer, continuing to try to make things better at George Mason. These workers rely on their income from this job to provide for their families and shouldn't be punished because Arkatype lost its contract with the university after only 4 months!

Please help me raise $8500, roughly $600/worker, to help them meet their basic needs and cover some rent costs while they find new work. This is a new group of workers who did not benefit from the last campaign. As always, thank you for your generosity and support. It means a great deal!
